Recipient of the Joseph W. Cullen Prevention/Early Detection Award
Dr. Yang is Chair Professor of National Taiwan University College of Medicine. He was the former President of National Taiwan University. His major research interests are lung cancer genomics and precision lung cancer therapy. He was elected as member of Academia Sinica in 2006 and the World Academic of Science in 2008 as well as the National Academy of Inventors of USA in 2015 because of his contributions in leading the translational research in precision cancer medicine and the implementation of lung cancer screening in never smoker, which significantly improved the survival of lung cancer patients in Taiwan. Their research group identified the proteogenomics signatures of pathogenesis and progression of never smoker lung cancer in East Asian population. They successfully established new platforms of theranostic applications of aptamer and smart targeting of cancer stem cell and tumor microenvironment that may provide new strategy to improve treatment outcome of lung cancer patients.
